Industrial Visit At Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd


Date:29th & 30th January, 2020

Introduction Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy, Bangalore had organized two days industrial visit for final year students of B. Pharm on 29th & 30th January, 2020 at Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore & Production & Manufacturing Unit of Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd., Tamil Nadu and Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited, Bangalore. It is our honor to thank Prof. PV Mallya, Director, CPPA, Prof Amit Kumar Das, Principal & Management of Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy, Bangalore for making available the requisite facilities intended for two days educational industrial visit for final year students of B. Pharm, KCP to Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore and Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited.

Purpose of Industrial Visit is to 

  1. To interact the students with actual Pharmaceutical Industry personals. 
  2.  To make them aware of the Pharmaceutical Industry procedures required to enter in any company. 
  3. To experience the working environment in industry and visualize all the important departments in the Pharmaceutical Industry. 
  4.  Interaction of students with all important departments in Pharmaceutical Industry. 
  5. To prepare the students for the selection of career path in different departments of Pharmaceutical Industry.

Day 1 Industrial Visit (29-01-2020): Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore & Production & Manufacturing Unit of Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd., Tamil Nadu. According the route and time plan our college bus was departed and reached the Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd. at 10:00 am, The Security officer welcomed the bus and guided for the entry into R&D plant and seminar rooms. Lecture room was very sophisticated where the tea and biscuits were served for the students during the lecture. The Power point presentation was very informative presented by Dr. Guru Raj, which highlighted about the introduction of company profile and principles. After PPT presentation, two batches of the students were divided and one batch washeaded for R&D plant and second batch moved for the Bio-assay lab. As per USFDA guidelines, Dr. Guru Raj, started briefing all the students about the safety and sterilized GLP practices in the Pharmaceutical Industry and procedures involved in the procurement of quality raw materials from vendors. Later, he elucidated with enzymatic in-vitro bioassays where he explained all the equipments and procedures used in the bioassay techniques. Dr. Guru Raj has explained about the identification and isolation of bioactive compounds from crude drugs through column chromatography and preparative HPLC. After R&D unit, students batch were moved for the analytical techniques unit, where he explained about the principle involved in the analysis of isolated bioactive compound through UV, FTIR, GC-MS and HPLC. After moving at Production & Manufacturing Unit of Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd. at 02:00 pm, which is an ISO 9001 certified pilot plant scale unit located at Denkanikottai, Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu. As per US-FDA guidelines, Mr. Senthil Kumar, the office of representative started depicting the importance of GMP practices adhere in their production unit and the standard procedures involved in procurement of quality raw materials and their storage protocols in warehousing. Later, all the students were taken to the production department, where he explained about the working procedure for the pilot scale production of crude extracts and various techniques involved in the filtration of extraction, drying, size separation and storage. Approximately at 4:00 pm the students finished first day of industrial visit. Industrial visit to Natural Remedies Pvt. Ltd was a wonderful experience which merged our theoretical learning with the practical skills in scaling-up products from laboratory scale to pilot scale and to near commercial scale for both human and animal health care production.

Day 2 Industrial Visit (30-01-2020): Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited, Bangalore. As per the Day 2 Industrial Visit plan, our college bus reached Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited, Bangalore at 10:00 am. The Security officer welcomes the students and guided to canteen where the tea and biscuits were served for the students. As per USFDA guidelines, a brief introduction about the GMP adhered in Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited was given by Mr. Anand Pattan, the office of representative and guided the students for the entry into procurement unit and explained about the standard procurement protocols. Afterwards, Dr. Rangarajan taught us many things, about the aseptic area, β-Lactum antibiotics, non β-Lactum antibiotics, different manufacturing zone for both type of antibiotics, Washing machines for vials, ampoules and rubber closers, Large size horizontal autoclaves, Various batch manufacturing utensils, Filling and sealing machines for dry powder, solution (10ml capacity), and ampoules, labelling and packaging machines for ampoules and vials. It was a good experience which provided us exposure to the industrial life linking theoretical knowledge and practical. We want to thank to Dr. Amit Agarwal, Director, Natural Remedies Pvt.
